At the GCAC, Daniel runs into Abby and asks if they’re allowed to have a conversation without their lawyers present. He tells her he doesn’t hold any of this against her regarding the lawsuit. He wonders who voted to fight the lawsuit and then apologizes. “Knowing someone at Chancellor-Winters is on my side means a lot.” Abby says they’ve known each other for a long time, and she can’t lie to him. “I voted to fight.”

Daniel is stunned. “To fight me?” Abby says she wanted to fight for the property, not him per say. Daniel points out he could be moving on with his life instead of gearing up to go to court. He’s sorry he thanked her for having his back. Abby had to do what was best for the company. Daniel scoffs, “God knows the company couldn’t survive without my games.” He suggests Devon put her on the board to vote exactly the way he wanted her to vote. To hell with morality, and years of friendship or what’s decent. Abby argues everyone voted to put her on the board, and how Devon feels doesn’t enter her mind when she votes. Daniel asks how she could think it was right to vote against him. Abby has to go and walks out.

In Audra’s suite, Tucker tells her the door’s been cracked between him and Devon. She finds it out of character for Devon to make a deal like that. Tucker admits he didn’t go so far as to broker the deal with him. Audra doesn’t want him to pursue this. Tucker says his son is clearly at odds with Billy, so much so that he’s willing to do something underhanded to get him out. He’s come to the right guy. Audra can’t argue that he does underhanded with the best of them. Tucker feels Devon desperately needs his help, whether he admits it or not. Audra doesn’t want to see him let down, but she has exciting news to share. She got their flight moved up. He can deal with the Billy situation when they get back. Tucker has to handle it now. Audra fumes, “Are you serious?! You’re canceling our trip again?!”

Audra’s sick and tired of being second to everyone else. Tucker pleads that he just has to do this one thing first. Audra rants that something else always comes first. Tucker insists they can still take a trip. Audra hollers that for all she knows, Devon is just a cover story. Tucker yells that he has an opportunity to prove himself to his son. Does she expect him to blow that? If she knew him at all, if she cared about him at all, she would not. Audra continues to rail and Tucker hollers that Devon needs his help right now. If he does this, there’s a chance he’ll let him back in. “They’re the only family I have.” Audra exclaims, “There it is. You don’t consider me family!” She cries that he’s punishing her for not accepting his proposal and she’s tired of this and is done with his little games! Tucker insists this is not a game to him. Every time Devon sees him, he tells him he can’t be trusted and that he only thinks of himself. This is a chance, a shot, at having a future with him. Audra asks, “What about our future?!” She thinks it’s time he asks why he keeps canceling. She’ll tell him… deep down he doesn’t want this. Audra fumes that she’ll go to Paris alone and storms out. Tucker kicks her suitcases.

At Chancellor-Winters, Devon tells Nate and Lily that if they pull this off, they can stop Billy’s rise to power, but they have to do it fast. Nate is in, so is Lily, who says she’s been loyal to Jill and this is a complete betrayal; they have to respond accordingly. Nate warns Jill will explode when they do this. Devon doesn’t care. She dropped a bomb on them and they’re going to return the favor.

Daniel finds Phyllis yelling at her earbuds in Crimson Lights. A song of Danny’s came on and she’s not a fan. She gripes about him choosing a relationship with Christine over a real adult woman. Daniel argues that it is an adult relationship. Phyllis thinks his dad is losing his mind. Daniel doesn’t react and she asks what’s going on with him. Daniel cracks up. Phyllis looks concerned.

Daniel admits he may be mocking her a little. It’s just amazing how self-absorbed she is anytime that his life is falling apart. “I can count on you to be you, that’s for damn sure.” Phyllis asks, “Are you upset?” Daniel asks his mother if he’s a jerk. Phyllis gawps, “What? No!” Daniel seems to be infuriating everyone around him recently. He gripes about Lily not giving his game back. Phyllis feels that’s not his fault. He was following his heart. She’s sure Lily will come around. Daniel reveals that his friend Abby voted against him on the board. When did he become the person everyone wants to hate?!

Phyllis scoffs at the idea that the spoiled Abby is his friend. “The family business will always come first.” She repeats that Lily will come around. Daniel can’t sit around hoping for that. “I don’t know what I’m going to do if I can’t get my games back.” He built his life there around them, and now everything feels different. “I barely see Kevin anymore, I love being with Heather and Lucy, but we live in the same building as my ex.” Phyllis tells him to calm down, it’s just a rough patch. He has a good life. Daniel muses, “Maybe you’re right, but maybe, I don’t know, what if this is as good as it gets for me.” He may have to start from scratch with his ex owning the game that helped him put his life back together. He announces he needs to go and get his mind off of this. He’ll paint, sketch, or maybe try to come up with a new game. Phyllis hollers after him about how talented he is and that this will pass. Tucker appears and muses, “What happened to the good old days when kids listened to their parents?”

At Chancellor-Winters, Devon hates to spring this on Abby, but he’s calling a board meeting. Abby points out that Billy’s not there. Is it really fair to pull off whatever this is behind his back. Devon says it’s on them. They’re just trying to fix it with a vote. Abby asks, “What is this about?” Jill appears on the big screen and grunts, “Oh for God’s sake. What now?!”

Lily welcomes Jill and Nate exits. Jill asks why they’re calling a secret, last-minute meeting. Abby would like to know this as well. Jill recaps that she gave Billy her authority and voting rights so she could step back… yet here they are calling a meeting without him. Lily says it’s an emergency and they can’t reach Billy. Jill says they know full well that he’s traveling. Devon says, “Jill, if you recall, we entered into this merger between my company and your company in good faith and a full partnership, correct?” Jill asks what his point is. Devon says they signed a deal with her, not Billy Abbott, in light of that, he’d like to make a motion to clearly define Billy’s power within the company. He does not get veto power or unilateral decisions, and we expect all decisions and ideas to pass through Lily and I first. If it’s a no from us, it’s a no across the board.” This is all happening because Billy isn’t her, and he never will be her.

Jill complains that this is an ambush. Devon says they’re just following her lead. Abby complains to him about no heads-up. Jill finds it outrageous that they’re pulling this on her and Billy. Lily argues it’s what’s fair. Billy’s vote and power shouldn’t outweigh theirs. The merger was to be on equal footing. Jill points out it’s not equal because she and Devon have already made up their little voting block. “This move practically neutralizes Billy and everything he would put forward.” Devon tells her Billy has brought instability to the company. They’re spending more time in board meetings than working. They need to get back on solid ground. Jill grits, “And this is the way to do it, huh, Devon? By stripping Billy of his power and me of mine?”

Devon says she stripped herself of power when she handed it to Billy without telling them. “Let’s take a vote.” Jill wonders why they should even bother. It will be Lily and Devon versus Jill and Billy. She chuckles, “And there’s no doubt which way Abby’s going to vote.” Jill asks if they’re done. She’s going to call her lawyers and figure out how to fight this. Abby tells her there’s no need to call her lawyers. Jill won’t roll over and accept this ambush. Abby says there’s no need for that, “Because I’m voting with you… and Billy.”

Jill thanks Abby for making the wise choice. “And Lily and Devon, nice try but I’m afraid you’re stuck with Billy.” She warns them not to try this again. “Make it work.” With that, she signed off. Lily snarks, “Well, I guess I should have voted for Nate to join the board.” Abby crosses her arms, “I’m sorry, Lily, and now you know what it feels like to have no warning about a consequential decision.” Devon says he’s sorry he sprung it on her, but why would she vote against him? Abby fumes, “Why did you just think I would automatically vote with you? You didn’t even discuss it with me first. You took my vote for granted.” Devon thought she’d see that Billy needs to be neutralized. Abby says she’s been forced to choose between people and families she loves her whole life, “The last person I thought would put me in this position is you.”

Audra storms up to the bar at Society and Sally says she thought she’d be on the way to the airport. Audra complains that yet again, Tucker has put someone else before her. This time it’s Devon. Sally asks her to walk her through what happened. Audra complains he thinks he has some chance to get back in Devon’s good graces. She will not be treated this way, and will not stand for it anymore. Sally gets her frustration, but this time she can kind of see Tucker’s point of view.

At Crimson Lights, Tucker joins Phyllis and says he realized that normally they trade insults, but he could use a parent-to-parent bonding moment right now. Phyllis doesn’t think she’s his person. Tucker confides that he’s trying to reconnect with Devon, but he’s so busy with work right now. Phyllis snarks that he’s probably trying to find a replacement for her son, who he unceremoniously fired. Tucker muses, “That’s right. I forgot you work for Chancellor-Winters now. And Daniel was fired? I didn’t know that.” He thinks it’s too bad she didn’t take him up on his offer to market his video game. Phyllis thinks Billy will convince the powers that be to rehire her son. “Jill transferred all of her corporate power to him, so Lily and Devon don’t get to do what they please anymore.”

At Chancellor-Winters, Devon falls all over himself to apologize to Abby. She thanks him for seeing her point, but they should know she had legitimate reasons for voting against them. There’s enough tension in this company; putting handcuffs on Billy will only create more. “Denying Jill autonomy in her own role is a Firestarter.” Devon argues she lit the match when she gave Billy her powers. Abby reminds him Jill brought Chancellor into this partnership, a more established, and frankly, better endowed entity. “You and Lily have clearly benefited from the deal. Putting limits on Billy only puts limits on Jill. Is that really how you want to treat your partner?” Devon insists they thought it made sense. Lily thinks maybe there’s a silver lining to this not passing. Weakening Billy’s power might have made him more dangerous.

At Society, Audra can’t believe Sally’s siding with Tucker. Sally is always on her side and is telling her she can see his point, so she doesn’t always feel like an afterthought in his life. Audra argues, “Except I am, Sally.” Sally and Audra debate about his golden opportunity to reconnect with his son. Sally says when she was little, her parents ignored her. She’s actually jealous of Devon having a parent who wants to go out on a limb for him. Audra rants about being shoved aside because he’s sure she’ll stick around. He’s willing to throw away everything he has with her to only make things worse with his son. It’s destined for disaster. She feels he’s always taken her for granted. Maybe he assumes she’s desperate, but she’s not having it. Audra mulls going to Paris to turn the Glissade board of directors against him and convince them to put her in charge of his company. Nate walks in as Audra tells Sally, “Tucker thinks he has all the power in this relationship, but I refuse to live with that. I won’t live with that. I am done.”

At Chancellor-Winters, Lily is working when Abby asks if she has a second. She wanted to make sure she understood why she voted the way she did. Lily appreciates her bringing her own perspective. Abby wishes everyone felt that way, and she doesn’t mean Devon. Abby shares that she ran into Daniel and told him she voted against settling the lawsuit with him. Lily is sure that was hard. “But you shouldn’t discuss board business with people outside of the board.” Abby only told him how she voted, nothing more. Lily says it’s still confidential. “Anyway, I’ll share something with you.” She tells Abby that Daniel came to plead his case again and it kind of got to her. She thinks they should avoid the bad publicity of a trial, so they should maybe find some middle ground. Maybe they can give him one game and keep a portion of the revenue. Maybe he can be an outside consultant and make a cut of the profits. The platform is performing well, so it’s a good deal. Abby thinks that’s a good compromise. They have enough to deal with. Lily muses, “And no doubt it’s only going to get worse from here.”

At Society, Nate asks to speak to Audra alone. Sally has to run anyway and leaves. Audra asks how much of that he heard. Nate says he heard enough to know he was right about Tucker. Audra doesn’t want an ‘I told you so’ speech. He asks what she plans to do now. Audra confesses she’s considering flying off to Paris alone. He suggests she skip the trip, stay, and have dinner with him.

At Crimson Lights, Tucker is sure Billy’s wielding his power all over the place. Phyllis tells him he’s on a tour right now. Devon walks in, and Tucker approaches and tells him that with Billy out of town, it’s the perfect time to deal with him. Devon asks how he knows Billy’s out of town. Tucker claims he always has his ear to the ground.

Devon walks over to Phyllis and asks if she told Tucker about Billy being out of town. “Where’d you find out about that?” Phyllis replies, “From Billy.” Devon says, “And you just decided to violate your confidentiality clause?” Phyllis says, “Yep! I did. Yeah, and since we’re breaking rules here, I might as well tell you I’m very disturbed that you fired the head of my division. Not only that but you stole his creations. Who does that?” Devon says it’s funny she brought that up because he was wondering why she was still wanting to work at the company. Phyllis was wondering that too. She tells him she’ll save him the trouble. “I quit. You don’t have to fire me. Your business, by the way, is toxic.” Devon accepts her resignation and walks out. Tucker and Phyllis exchange a glance.
