Recently on The Young and the Restless, characters have noticed that Phyllis Summers is surprisingly silent as of late. Some fans are wondering just where she could be and what’s going on. In fact, some theorize she could be in danger.
Phyllis Has Been Part Of The Soap Since 1994
Phyllis first appeared on the soap in 1994. Originally one of Danny Romalotti’s groupies, she married him, serving as a rival for Christine Blair.
Since then, Phyllis has also had romances with other characters, including Jack Abbott, Nicholas Newman, and, most recently, Jeremy Stark. She is also the mother of Daniel Romalotti and Summer Newman.
The character has most famously been played by Michelle Stafford, who originated the role. Playing Phyllis off and on throughout the years, Stafford most recently returned to play the character in 2019. Phyllis has also been played by Sandra Nelson and Gina Tognoni.
As noted by Soaps, Phyllis’ whereabouts have been the subject of speculation as of late on the soap. Her two children, Daniel and Summer, have notably been wondering what happened to their mother.
As Daniel noted, he recently made his mother happy by signing onto Billy’s Abbott Communications venture. This makes it all the more surprising that she hasn’t been responding to his calls or texts recently.
Summer had also noted that she hadn’t really heard from her mother, lately, either. The siblings also noted, however, their mother had planned an upcoming breakfast family, meaning she should show up soon.
Phyllis Could Be Halfway Around The World
The publication also noted that Phyllis “could be anywhere.” Given her rivalry with Christine and past with Danny, she might be spy them on their world tour. She could also be in Paris, about to give Billy a little Valentine’s Day surprise.
All in all, Phyllis is a character who is known for her scheming ways, all in the pursuit of getting what she wants. This means her mysterious absence could be a sign that she could be in some sort of unseen danger that’s about to play out on the soap.
It’s entirely possible that a threat from the past might be making a return to Genoa City. After all, fans are still waiting for the pay-off of Ian Ward waking up in an ambulance, after previously being believed to be dead.
As the publication noted, viewers already have at least one clue. Billy reached Phyllis on her phone, suggesting it’s not dead or lost.
From a dramatic point-of-view, it also doesn’t make much sense to have characters mention another character’s absence without it later being a plot-point. Ultimately, however, only time will tell what fate has in store for Phyllis on The Young and the Restless.
