And just like that, Days of Our Lives grew its teen scene out by one more with the addition on Wednesday’s show of Tate’s friend, Adam, played by newcomer Louis Tomeo. But who is Adam and what’s his role in Tate and Holly’s saga?
Right now, we don’t know a whole lot about him except that he seems a bit like an overachiever (which pretty much guarantees him getting into the college of his choice) and that he’s into Holly’s friend, Sophia. She, though, is into Tate. And Tate’s secretly dating Holly. (Lost? You can catch up with Wednesday’s recap here.)
In other words… their love lives are a mess — and it’s about to be compounded in the best way by Holly and Adam double dating to the prom with Sophia and Tate!

Suddenly, we’re getting shades of the Sami/Austin/Carrie/Lucas quadrangle. For those who don’t remember, back when they were all teens, Sami wanted Austin, but he was with her sister Carrie. So she schemed with Lucas to break them up, since he wanted Carrie. Of course, ultimately, Sami and Lucas ended up falling for each other, but it was a wild ride while it lasted! (Right up until Lucas kidnapped Sami and went to prison for it the other year.)
But with Adam’s addition, Days of Our Lives could set history to repeat itself — starting with the prom. There, he and Sophia could realize that Holly and Tate are secretly together, just as Adam falls for his prom date. That would mean Adam and Sophia would have to team up, just like Lucas and Sami, to split their friends up and claim them for themselves.
Of course, one big difference is that neither Adam nor Sophia are legacy characters… that we know of. Remember when Chad first showed up on the teen scene? He was the DA’s son, and it was only later that we learned Stefano was his true father. Whether something similar happens to Adam remains to be seen, but it’s pretty clear that Tomeo and his character will be sticking around for a bit.
Tomeo had plenty of drama to cut his teeth on in The Summer I Turned Pretty!

While this is Tomeo’s first daytime role, the actor has done his share of TV shows and spent four years as a series regular on Nickelodeon’s Every Which Way. Most recently, fans of Amazon Prime’s hit coming of age drama The Summer I Turned Pretty, might recall spotting him making an appearance in the season two premiere.
In other words, he’s no stranger to romantic teen drama!
