Days of Our Lives’ Adorable ‘Recast’ Likely Means Fans Are About to Get Exactly What They’ve Wanted

Move over, baby bundle, because you are officially out of a job on Days of Our Lives. That’s right, little Jude has got an adorable new face! Actually, we should amend that to say little Jude has finally got a face!

So far, the tot, like baby Victoria, has been played by, well, what appear to be blankets. When not in a crib or a stroller, he’s been bundled up to the point of mystery.

Now, though, as Soap Opera Digest reports, the bundle of blankets have been given the pink slip and little Oliver McLarty is being brought in to play Jude for real. Though there’s no date just yet for when he’ll show up, we have gotten a glimpse of him on the set. Just look at that little face!

If the show is bringing on an actual baby, then that likely means they’re looking to up the emotional impact — like when Nicole finally gets her baby back! It shouldn’t come as a big surprise that it’s coming up. For one thing, we’re well into May Sweeps (officially or not). If ever there was a time to do it, it’s about now.

For another, Leo’s blabbed to EJ and just been paid off even more to keep his mouth shut. Even if the huge payday works and Leo doesn’t say anything anymore, the damage may have already been done. EJ knows the truth and both Nicole and Eric know that there was something that Leo wanted to say about Jude.

Ultimately, it seems pretty clear that we’re in the end stage with the Jude saga — especially if Nicole is going to get her baby back before Arianne Zucker leaves at the end of July. There’s still, though, a lot of unknowns. Will Nicole be exiting the show along with Zucker? Will Eric be sticking around? Who will be taking care of Jude when all this is over, and will he be staying in Salem? (We’re pretty sure Sloan’s time as mommy is about to come crashing to an end!)

No matter what, though, welcome to Salem, little Oliver! We’re excited to meet you and baby Jude!
